According to antiMusic the improv jam band Phish will be reuniting in 2009 for a reunion tour. The first (and so far the only announced) three shows will be at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, VA  on March 6, 7 and 8. The Hampton Coliseum has always been a venue favorite for the band, and was the location of the group’s Grammy-nominated live CD, Hampton Comes Alive in 1998.

As a former Phish fan I’m glad to see them back together after all these years even if I probably won’t be buying tickets as I can only imagine how much they are going to go for.

This will be the first time the quartet performs together since the band’s split in August 2004. The band plans to announce additional tour dates early next year.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Saturday, October 18 at 10 a.m. ET. You can purchase them online at Tickemaster.com or by phone at 757-671-8100 or 804-262-8100.

There is a two-ticket limit per show, and tickets won’t be available at the venue box office. So make sure to get yours early because they will no doubt sell out fast.

Love them or hate them, the success of The Killers can’t be argued. Hot on the heel of their debut single, Human, which hit the Billboard Modern Rock chart at 13, The Killers recently confirmed details about their 3rd album, ‘Day and Age,’ due out November 24. The band will play Human on Saturday Night Live on October 4.

The band played Spaceman at the Reading and Leeds festival back in August. You can listen to a crappy YouTube version of it below:

Here is the track list for “Day & Age”:
“Losing Touch”
“Human”
“Spaceman”
“Joyride”
“A Dustland Fairytale”
“This Is Your Life”
“I Can’t Stay”
“Neon Tiger”
“The World We Live In”
“Goodnight, Travel Well”

You can also hear their single, Human, on their website: http://www.thekillersmusic.com/

They’ll also be touring pretty soon, although only 4 stops have been listed on their website:

Las Vegas – Oct. 20

San Francisco- Oct. 21

New York – Oct. 4

London – Nov. 3

Good news today for those of you who loved Viva la Vida but wished there were more than 10 tracks. Coldplay announced today that they will release a four-track, digital EP called Lost! on November 10. The EP will feature the title track from Viva as well as three other unannounced tracks, and Chris Martin told the BBC the EP would contain leftover material that never made it onto Viva. On the band’s website they have also mentioned a new song they’ll be playing during their tour called “Death Will Never Conquer.” It’s a piano-heavy ballad that has a soulful sound reminicent of the 1950′s. Will this song be on the EP? The band hasn’t said yet, but you can listen to a sample of it below.

Coldplay will begin their North America tour on October 20, in Ottowa.

Following the release of their new album Intimacy, Block Party recently confirmed speculation of a UK tour in Janurary 2009. This will be the band’s first UK tour since 2007. Lucky Brits.

Dates are as follows:
January
25 – Academy, Glasgow
26 – Academy, Glasgow
28 – Apollo, Manchester
29 – Apollo, Manchester
31 – Civic, Wolverhampton

February
01 – Civic, Wolverhampton

April
11 – Olympia, London

If you haven’t listened to their new CD I’d definitely suggest checking it out if you’re a fan of the indie rock genre. Here is their latest single off the album called “Talons.”

Rumors of a Zeppelin reunion tour have been circulating for years now, but according to antiMusic that isn’t the case:

(antiMusic) So much for unnamed sources, on Monday we heard from Robert Plant himself about where he stands on a Led Zeppelin reunion tour; it’s not going to happen.

The latest rumor was sparked from a UK press report that said Robert Plant agreed to a reunion tour after rumors circulated that that Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham were planning to tour with another singer out in front of the group.

“It’s both frustrating and ridiculous for this story to continue to rear its head when all the musicians that surround the story are keen to get on with their individual projects and move forward,” Robert Plant said. “I wish Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham nothing but success with any future projects.”

Page, Jones and Bonham have reportedly been working together of late with a “cover” singer. According to a statement posted on Robert Plant’s website on Monday, “Robert has no intention whatsoever of touring with anyone for at least the next two years. Contrary to a spate of recent reports, Robert Plant will not be touring or recording with Led Zeppelin. Anyone buying tickets online to any such event will be buying bogus tickets.”

Sadly, it looks like there won’t be a reunion tour anytime soon. And if one ever does happen it most likely will not include Plant. As much as I dislike him as a person, without Plant there should be no reunion tour in my opinion. A lead singer isn’t something easily replaceable, especially a singer like Plant.
